The workspace
The toolbar, Live mode and the Calculate button, the running total, what you can do with a card, pages of items, clearing, and where it is all saved.
Updated
By the end of this page you know every control on the workspace screen, what it does, and where your items are kept.
The panel
Live spot prices sit across the top of the page. Below them is the workspace panel. Its dark head has two tabs, Workspace and AI Assistant (a WITVT Pro feature, shown to everyone), and the running total on the right. The body holds the toolbar, your items as cards, and an Add item button after the last card. Under the panel sit the Calculate button, when Live is off, and a closing bar with View report and the total again.
The toolbar
- 1Add item
- 2Share
- 3Report
- 4Settings
- 5Clear
- 6Item count and total weight
- 7Live toggle
- 8Calculate
- Add item opens the add-item wizard. Value your first item walks through it.
- Share opens a menu: Share via email, Share via message and Download report. See Reports and sharing.
- Report opens the printable report.
- Settings opens the pricing settings: the price multiplier and purity hedging, which are part of WITVT Pro. The button carries a Pro chip until you subscribe.
- Clear removes every item after you confirm. See Clearing the workspace.
- On a wide screen the toolbar also shows the item count and the total weight in grams.
- Live and Calculate control when values are recalculated. See the next section.
Live mode and the Calculate button
Every value is worked out on the server from the current spot prices. The Live toggle decides when that happens.
- Live off (the default in a new workspace). Changes pile up. The panel head says Needs recalculation, a new card says Not priced, and a Calculate updated values button appears under the list. Press it, or the Calculate button in the toolbar, to price everything at once.
- Live on. The whole workspace is recalculated about half a second after every change: a new item, an edit, a duplicate, a deletion. The green dot next to the toggle pulses while it is on, and the toolbar’s Calculate button is disabled because there is nothing left to do by hand.
While a calculation runs the head shows Calculating with a spinner. If the calculation fails, for example because a spot price is unavailable, the workspace keeps its last values and tries again on your next change. Troubleshooting covers what to do.
The total
The total is the sum of every item’s value, counting up as it changes. It appears twice: in the panel head and in the closing bar under the list. When a Pro price multiplier is applied, a line under the total says so, for example × 70.0% multiplier applied. The total is also the first thing the report shows.
Cards
Each item is a card: an icon for its kind, the name, a type line such as “Jewelry · Ring · Gold 14K”, the weight, and the value on the right, or Not priced until it has been calculated.
- Edit. Tap anywhere on the card, or the pen icon on a computer, to open the edit page.
- Duplicate. The copy icon makes an identical item with its own name to change. It counts towards the free limit.
- Delete. The bin icon on a computer; on a phone, swipe the card to the left until the red bin appears. Either way WITVT asks you to confirm, and there is no undo.
- The breakdown. How was this calculated? along the bottom edge expands the card to show every number behind the value. Understanding the result explains it.
Editing and organising items goes through the edit page, duplicating for lots and the free limit.
Pages of items
The list shows ten items per page. Once you have more, a pager appears under the list with the page numbers and a choice of 10, 25 or 50 items per page. Every item is still in the workspace and the total still counts all of them.
Clearing the workspace
Clear in the toolbar removes every item. WITVT asks first: “Remove all 3 items from the workspace? This cannot be undone.” Your pricing settings and the Live switch are kept; only the items go. To remove one item, delete it from its card instead.
Where it is saved
In this browser, on this device. The items, the pricing settings and the Live switch are saved as you work, so they are there after a reload or a restart. Nothing is sent to a server except the calculation itself, and that is not kept.
That has three consequences. Another browser, or another device, starts with an empty workspace. A private window forgets the workspace when it closes. Clearing the site’s data in your browser removes it. Signing in does not change any of this: an account stores your gem value matrices, profile settings and subscription, not the workspace.
Working on both a phone and a computer? Build the list on the device you weigh on, then open the report there and share it. Privacy and your data lists exactly what is kept where.
