Privacy and your data
What stays in your browser, what an account stores, which cookies are set and when, what the assistant sends, and how to delete any of it.
Updated
This page says where each piece of your data lives and how to remove it. The privacy policy is the formal version; this is the practical one.
In your browser
Most of what you do in WITVT never leaves your device. The browser’s own storage for this site holds:
- Your workspace: every item, the pricing settings and the Live switch, saved as you work.
- Preferences: light or dark theme, whether you have taken or skipped the tour, which one-time tips you dismissed, and the coins you picked recently.
- Your cookie choice, so the notice does not come back.
When you ask for a calculation, the items are sent to the server, priced and sent back; they are not kept. The same is true of the report, which is rendered from the workspace in your browser. Consequences: another device or browser has its own workspace, a private window forgets everything when it closes, and clearing the site’s data removes it all. See Where the workspace is saved.
On your account
With a free account, WITVT stores on its server:
- your name and email address, as provided by the sign-in provider through Auth0;
- your diamond value matrices and your settings, such as the email notifications switch;
- if you subscribe or buy a pass, a reference to your Stripe customer record and the status of the subscription or pass. Card details are entered on Stripe’s pages and stay with Stripe;
- if you use the assistant, a count of messages per day and the token usage of each request, to apply the allowance and monitor costs. Not the messages themselves.
IP addresses are recorded to meter use of the service. The workspace is never stored on the account.
Cookies and analytics
Two kinds. A sign-in cookie keeps you signed in; it is set when you sign in and removed when you sign out. Analytics cookies, from Google Analytics, are set only after you press Accept on the cookie notice, and are used for anonymous usage statistics. There are no advertising cookies and no advertisements. Declining the notice loses nothing: every feature works without analytics.
The assistant
When you send a message to the AI assistant, that message, the earlier messages of the same chat and your workspace pricing settings go to Anthropic, which runs the model, under its own privacy policy and commercial terms. Nothing is sent unless you send a message. WITVT does not store the conversation; reloading the page clears it. Keep other people’s personal details out of your messages. See The AI assistant.
Who else sees your data
Only the services that run the site, each with what it needs: Auth0 for sign-in, Stripe for payments, Anthropic for assistant replies, and Google Analytics when you have accepted cookies. Nothing is sold or shared for advertising. Data may be disclosed if the law requires it.
Deleting your data
- The workspace: Clear in the toolbar removes every item, or delete items one by one. Clearing this site’s data in your browser’s settings removes the workspace, the preferences and the cookie choice together.
- Matrices: delete them on the Gem value matrices page.
- A subscription: cancel it in the billing portal from the account page; it ends at the end of the paid period. See Cancelling.
- The account itself: there is no self-service button yet. Email the address on the contact page from the email you signed in with, and the account and its data are removed.
The terms of use and the privacy policy are the documents that govern all of this; this page summarises them and does not replace them.
