Prices and values
Where do the prices come from?
Live spot prices for gold, silver, platinum and palladium from a commercial market-data feed, quoted in US dollars per troy ounce and refreshed through the day. Each card in the spot bar shows when its quote was taken.
Why would a buyer offer me less than the value shown?
WITVT shows melt value: what the metal itself is worth at market price. Refiners, pawn shops and gold buyers have costs and margins, so offers of 60 to 90% of melt are normal.
How accurate is this?
The arithmetic is exact for the weight and purity you enter; the uncertainty is in the inputs. Weigh precisely, check the hallmark, and remember that stones, solder and plating reduce the real metal content.
Why does an item or a stone show “Not priced”?
An item has not been calculated yet, usually because Live is off: press Calculate updated values. A diamond shows it when no active value matrix covers its cut, carat weight, clarity and colour.
Why is my diamond worth $0?
Diamond values come from your own value matrix. A stone is unpriced when there is no active matrix for its cut, its carat weight falls outside the ranges you set up, or its clarity or colour is not set. It still reduces the metal weight.
What are the price multiplier and purity hedging?
Two WITVT Pro workspace settings that price the way the trade does. The multiplier scales every value, so 0.7 models a buyer paying 70% of melt. Hedging discounts the metal price by a small percentage to allow for hallmarks that overstate purity.
Is a coin priced on its metal or its collector value?
Both are worked out and the higher one is used. Melt value comes from the fine metal content; numismatic value comes from the catalog guide price for that issue at the grade you chose.
The workspace
Is my workspace saved?
Yes, in this browser on this device, as you work. It is not sent to a server and does not follow you to another device or browser. An account adds your gem value matrices, profile settings and subscription.
How many items can a free workspace hold?
Up to 10. A one-time report pass or WITVT Pro lifts the limit, and items already in the workspace are never removed.
Can I open my workspace on another device?
Not yet. Each browser keeps its own workspace. Build the list on the device you weigh on, then open the report there and share it or save it as a PDF.
Why did the total not update after I changed something?
Live is off. The panel head says “Needs recalculation” and a Calculate updated values button appears under the list; press it, or turn Live on to price every change automatically.
Can I value a whole lot at once?
Yes. Add as many items as your plan allows, duplicate similar pieces instead of re-entering them, and the workspace keeps a running total. The report lists every item with its value.
Plans and billing
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. Cancel from the billing portal on your account page. You keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for, and nothing renews after that.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Nothing is deleted. Your workspace lives in your browser and stays exactly as it is. Items over the free limit remain; you just cannot add more until you upgrade again or remove some.
I only need one report. Do I have to subscribe?
No. A full report pass is a single payment that lifts the 10-item limit and unlocks the full report on your account for 30 days, with nothing to cancel afterwards. It does not include the AI Assistant.
Is there a free trial?
Not at the moment. The calculator, the report and a preview of the assistant are free, so you can see how WITVT works before paying.
How is payment handled?
Payments are processed by Stripe. WITVT never sees or stores your card details. You can switch between monthly and annual billing or update your card from the billing portal.
How many diamond value matrices can I have?
A free account includes 1; WITVT Pro removes the limit. One matrix covers one cut, with as many carat ranges as you need.
Your data
Is my data secure?
Your workspace never leaves your browser except for the calculation itself, which is not retained. Account data is stored securely, payments are handled by Stripe, and nothing is shared with third parties beyond the services that run the site.
What does the AI assistant send and keep?
The messages in that chat and your workspace pricing settings go to Anthropic to generate the reply. WITVT counts your messages per day and logs token usage, but does not store the conversation.
