Editing and organising items
The edit page, duplicating similar pieces, deleting, renaming, and what happens when a free workspace reaches its limit.
Updated
By the end of this page you can change anything about an item after it is in the workspace, build a lot out of similar pieces quickly, and know what the free limit does when you reach it.
The edit page
Tap a card, or its pen icon on a computer, to open the edit page. The head says Edit item with a red Delete item button; the form below holds everything the wizard asked for, on one page instead of in steps.
For jewelry:
- Item Name and Description. The name is selected when the page opens, so you can type over it straight away.
- Jewelry Type, Weight with its unit, and Purity/Alloy with the alloy search; the info button and See details about … open the alloy details.
- Gems: the same list as the wizard’s stones step. Add, edit or remove stones, and change the count on a row.
- Jewelry item information: a summary of the metal weight, the stone weight and the number of stones, so you can check the figures before saving.
For a coin the page has the catalog and manual modes, a Browse the coin catalog button to pick a different issue, the grading fields and a composition summary. Adding coins explains each field.
Press Update to save: you return to the workspace with a message that the item was updated, and the item is repriced, straight away with Live on or when you next press Calculate updated values. Cancel leaves everything as it was. The same checks as the wizard apply: a name, a weight above zero, an alloy, and stones that weigh less than the piece; while one fails, Update is disabled and the problems are listed under the form.
Renaming
Names are for you and for the report: “Grandma’s wedding band” beats “Gold 14K Ring” when the list is long. Open the item, type the new name over the selected one, and press Update. The name has no effect on the value.
Duplicating for lots
A bag of similar pieces does not need the wizard for every one. Add the first, then press the copy icon on its card to make an identical item with its own name to change; open the copy and adjust the weight. Each duplicate counts as an item for the free limit. The copy icon is shown on a computer; on a phone, open the item instead and add the next one through the wizard.
When pieces share an alloy but differ only in weight, another approach is faster still: weigh them together and enter one item called “14K scrap, 7 pieces” with the combined weight. The melt value is the same either way; separate items only matter when the report needs to list them one by one.
Deleting
Three ways: the bin icon on the card, a swipe to the left on a phone, or Delete item on the edit page. WITVT asks you to confirm (“Delete “Grandma’s wedding band” from the workspace?”) and then the item is gone; there is no undo and no history. Clear in the toolbar removes every item at once, again after a confirmation.
The free limit
A free workspace holds up to 10 items. When it is full:
- Add item under the list, Add your first item and the copy icon open a Workspace limit reached dialog instead of adding.
- Add item in the toolbar still opens the wizard, but the review step shows the same panel and Add to workspace is disabled until there is room.
The panel offers two ways on. A full report pass is one payment that lifts the limit and unlocks the full report on your account for 30 days, with nothing to cancel afterwards. WITVT Pro lifts it for as long as you subscribe. Or remove an item to make room. Nothing you have already added is ever removed, and the calculator itself has no limit: every item in the workspace keeps being priced. Account, billing and the report pass has the details.
